This month’s Library Volunteer of the Month is Adam Kacmarsky. Adam, who is a senior at Windsor High School, is one of the library’s top summer volunteers, donating 87 hours of his time over the last three summers. Adam contributes in many ways at the library including helping with the Summer Reading program, shelving books and other library materials, straightening shelves, creating spreadsheets, and assisting with programs. He also works as a Docent, helping patrons find books.
Besides volunteering at the library, Adam also works at Brick Oven Pizza, marches in the Pride of Windsor Marching Band, listens to music, crochets and plays his accordion.
Adams says that he loves the library and likes to volunteer there because he uses the library often and hopes to work at a library, even if it is just for a short time. His favorite books include Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings series, “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” by Douglas Adams, anything by Terry Pratchet and Calvin and Hobbs by Bill Watterson.
Adam’s ultimate goal is to study astrophysics and computer science, “while reading many books along the way”. The staff feels very lucky and grateful that Adam shares his talents with the library and his community.
