Create Your Own Story at the Library

The 53rd annual National Library Week celebration takes place April 10-16. Though libraries have changed drastically since 1958, they are still the place where people come to create their own stories and where we invite you to share your stories throughout the week.

Fifty-three years ago libraries were focused on book collections. Today’s public libraries still feature hardbound and paperback books, but now they offer so much more: audiobooks, e-books, DVD and BluRay movies, music on CDs, remote access to information resources, and downloadable books, movies and music. Even the friendly, helpful librarians now have a vastly increased number of resources to help the weary Internet user and researcher more quickly find the information needed.

Why does the Clearview Library District provide all these resources? Our mission is to provide access to quality library materials and information resources that address the needs and expand the aspirations of our community for lifelong learning, enrichment and pleasure. Free access to the library’s collections can inspire our patrons, young and old, to create their own stories.

People create their own stories everyday at the library. Travelers create their own travel itinerary using the library’s travel guides, maps, travel videos, and language-learning resources such as BYKI. Do-it-yourselfers find magazines and non-fiction books packed with helpful information. Students and researchers begin their quest for knowledge using information-rich computer programs such as Reference USA, Heritage Quest and Masterplots. Fiction readers gather ideas that help shape their own life-long stories.

Come to the Clearview Library at Windsor or visit the Clearview Mobile Branch Library during National Library Week this year and create your own story. Join the nearly 15,000 patrons who are finding new story beginnings at Clearview Library District.
